この集合住宅は 50 年前にこの地に建った。自然の起伏に富んだ地形を活かして 10 の低層住棟を配置し、中心には 800 坪の自然緑地を有する素晴らしい環境が残っている。本計画は、この価値のある環境を住み継ぐこと、そして、残し続けることを目標とした設計者の自邸である。緑が繁茂した圧倒的な自然緑地に対峙するために、世界各地で見られる「人間にとって居心地のいい広さ」と吉村順三が言及している九間のリビングを、さらにテラスにも同じ大きさのアウトルームを設けた。この2つの九間を中心に住戸全体をふたつのゾーンに分け、前者には家族の居住スペース、後者にはミニキッチンとトイレを増設し、二世帯居住や職住一体といったライフスタイルの変化に対応できるようにした。仕上げは、竣工時の図面や文献から当時の素材を、現在の建物の外装、外構から実際に使われている材料の色や質感を丁寧に調べ、元の建築をオーバーホールするかのように復元や更新を行った。可能な限り住み手の趣味嗜好を排除しつつニュートラルで建築の魅力を最大化したデザインにすることで、仮に住み手である私たちがいなくなっても、誰もが住める、住み継げる住宅をめざした。

This housing complex, built 50 years ago, takes advantage of natural undulations and preserves a rare 800-tsubo (approx. 1,000 m2) green spaceat its center. The project is the designersʼ own residence, intended to passthis environment to future generations. Facing the overwhelming greenery,the living room was designed in Junzo Yoshimuraʼs “ Kokonoma ” scale̶ which he noted as “ a comfortable size for humans ” found around the world. Another terrace of the same size was placed outside. Together they form the core, dividing the house into two zones: a family living area and a multipurpose zone with a mini-kitchen and toilet. Materials and colors were carefully researched from the original completion period and the existing building, enabling a restoration and renewal similar to overhauling the original architecture. By designing a neutral space that maximizes architectural appeal while minimizing the infl uence of the our personal tastes, we aimed to design a residence that can be lived in by anyone over time.
